The Expo Group recently named MHI’s Tom Carbott as the winner of the 2017 Show Manager of the Year Award (SMOTY). Tom was the winner in the Tier IV category for shows over 1,501 booths in size.
Show managers are nominated by their peers for the SMOTY award and then selected by an independent judging panel. Winners are chosen for making a difference in their buyer-seller communities and for bringing passion to their work. Each received the iconic crystal obelisk trophy and a donation to their favorite charity.
“Tom is widely known as a true professional, and he has led the MHI team to master that balance of what’s right for the association and for our exhibitors and attendees, not to mention our trade show partners,” said George W. Prest, MHI CEO. “It is my honor to work with him.”
Tom joins the ranks of 69 former SMOTY winners honored since The Expo Group began the awards program in 2000 as a way to shine a spotlight on the people who make the trade show business great.
Tom has been with MHI since 1992 and currently serves as the Senior Vice President of Exhibitions. In his role, he oversees the exhibit sales and operations for the MODEX and ProMat trade events. He has over 35 years of experience in the material handling and logistics industry.
